PRESS RELEASE: WILPF Cameroon condemns the killing of three traditional leaders in the South West region

Douala, 23 February 2021

PRESS RELEASE: WILPF Cameroon condemns the killing of three traditional leaders in the South West region
On the night of February 13-14, 2021, three traditional leaders were abducted and coldly eliminated by armed men, presumed to be separatists, on Saturday February 13, 2021 in the locality of Essoh-Attah, Lebialem Department, South West Region. WILPF Cameroon is shocked by such acts which add to the long list of human rights abuses and violations in the conflict between Cameroonian forces and separatists in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
The crisis has been going on for almost five years in the North-West and South-West regions, where a conflict has been raging since 2016 that has already claimed too many victims, among the belligerents, but especially among the civilian population, such as the killing of Garbu in the North-West in February 2020 and the murder of seven (7) students in a school on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in Kumba in the South-West.
