The International Action Network on Small Arms and Light Weapons (IANSA) is a global movement of hundreds of organisations working to end gun violence.
On the African continent, the link between armed violence, conflict and development is well demonstrated by the recurrence of armed conflict. Proliferation, illicit trafficking and diversion of arms continue to pose significant challenges to peace and stability in Africa. The abundance of illegal arms fuels armed conflict, and crime poses serious challenges to peace. Illicit flows of small arms and light weapons (SALW) pose a threat to war-affected countries, either directly or through contagion.
This year, WILPF Cameroon, through its Disarmament programme, has joined the campaign by publishing awareness messages.
