Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Cameroon section (WILPF CAMEROON) is organising, with the support of UN Women Cameroon, a week of activities prelude to the 41st edition of the International Day of Peace which will be celebrated on 21 September 2022, under the theme: “Acting for Equality: ending racism, building peace”.
This week runs from 16 to 21 September and is called “Women’s Call for Peace Week”. It benefits from the institutional support and participation of the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC), the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family (MINPROFF), and the collaboration of the Nobel Women’s Initiatives, the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security and the Cameroonian Women’s Platform for National Dialogue.
The “Women’s Call for Peace Week” aims to make the voices of women and girls in Cameroon, Africa and the world heard. This often unheard voice is supported by religious and traditional communities, youths, etc.
The general objective of the “Women’s Peace Week” is to contribute to the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts, the promotion of living together and peaceful cohesion in Cameroon, Africa and the world through the commemoration of the International Day of Peace.
In Cameroon, it is an opportunity to engage a greatest number of people to peace, ceasefire, dialogue, tolerance and harmonious living together, through a vibrant appeal by various sections of society: women, youth, religious and traditional authorities, etc.
A series of advocacy, awareness-raising and education activities on peace, non-violent conflict resolution and against all forms of discrimination and hate speech are envisaged on the various sites and online.
