INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

Celebrating peace in our schools

On September 21, 2023, the International Day of Peace, WILPF cameroon joined the national and international community in celebrating peace. The Yaoundé office, represented by its focal point Ms Effa Essomba Uppaultine, and its members turned their attention to the Mvolyé Efoulan school complex to unite their voices with those of the children.

Around 300 students from four groups and some 20 teachers took part in the event.
The school principals welcomed their guests, inviting the students to be receptive to the message of peace that would be shared with them.
In an interactive exchange, #WILPF Présentes managers Ms Effa and Dr Makanthé presented the organization and the international day respectively.
For the entertainment, a group of students gave a performance that enhanced the atmosphere of the event. White handkerchiefs were distributed, and the peace tree was also displayed by the students as a sign of peace.
Signs inscribed with messages of peace were planned for the buildings in the school complex.
The last joint was to put the children in a workshop to enable them to reproduce what they had learned from the exchanges on paper. They were given drawing and coloring materials.
In each room, they answered the question of what peace is on the one hand, and on the other, cited the factors that hinder peace.
At the end, the work was returned and pasted up in the various classrooms, so that the children could familiarize themselves with the garden of peace every day.
The event ended on an optimistic note.
