INTERNATIONAL RURAL WOMEN'S DAY 2023

Women play a decisive role in rural areas

Every year on October 15, the world celebrates International Rural Women’s Day, in recognition of the decisive role played by women in rural areas.

In addition to its weekly awareness-raising event held every Friday, the Centre de Promotion de l’Entrepreneuriat Féminin de Mandjou held important commemorative activities. On October 13, 2023, International Rural Women’s Day was celebrated on the theme “Rural women grow good food for everyone”.
Organized by Feplem Moral and its partners WILPF Cameroon, Womenpeace Initiatives and Cameroon for a World Beyond War Over 75 people took part in the event, including refugees and internally displaced persons.
We were honored by the presence of the Déléguée d’arrondissement de la promotion de la femme et de la famille de Mandjou, who presided over the ceremony. She was followed by representatives of the Mandjou Regional and District Delegates for Youth and Civic Education, the Communications Officer of the World Food Program and the Managing Director of Proaction Consulting.
The celebration, which was rich in entertainment, consisted of :
– Training in the manufacture of organic fertilizers (compost) and pesticides
– An educational talk on the contribution of rural women to the well-being of a country and the importance of education for the harmonious and sustainable development of a community.
– An exhibition on the activities of CEPREF women and girls.
– The presentation of agricultural inputs to the women, a sewing machine and dignity kits to the girls.
Our sincere thanks go to all the stakeholders who contributed to this vibrant tribute to those who work tirelessly to contribute to the development of their communities: rural women.
