Wednesday September 18, 2024 was a day of intense communion, punctuated by a long sports walk led by Sub-Prefect Benjamin Bwanga, Mayor René Batoum, who is also a traditional chief, the Special Commissioner, the Principal of the Lycée Général and the President of WILPF Cameroon, Nathalie Foko.
More than 300 souls were mobilized by Penda Timba, district delegate for the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family in Ndom, accompanied by his counterpart from MINJEC, with the multi-faceted support of WILPF Cameroon .
Over a distance of around two kilometers, administrative and traditional authorities, parents and pupils, women and children, as well as people living with disabilities, marched for Peace, brandishing messages and white handkerchiefs as a symbol of peace. The event commemorates the third edition of the Women’s Call for Peace Week, initiated in 2022 by Mme. Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo International President of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom .
This year, as part of its policy of acting directly in communities, WILPF Cameroon has chosen to commemorate peace with people in rural areas.
