INTERNATIONAL GIRL'S DAY

Celebration of the 13th edition at NDOM

On October 11, 2024, the Délégation d’Arrondissement de la Promotion de la Femme et de la Famille de Ndom, in collaboration with WILPF Cameroon organized an awareness-raising session at the Lycée de Ndom. The event brought together 88 participants, including 64 girls and 24 boys, to talk about girls’ rights and comprehensive sexuality education.

– Session highlights :
* Presentation of the rights of the girl child (according to the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child).
* Discussions on menstrual hygiene, STIs and the dangers of early sexuality.
* Interactive exchanges with students, to help them better understand the topics covered.
– Some of the girl’s rights highlighted:
* Right to education and health.
* The right to be protected against violence and forced marriage.
* Right to information, expression and participation.
– Recommendations from participants :
* Multiply this type of awareness-raising in villages and among community leaders.
* Organize practical training to empower women economically.
