Concertation between Elections Cameroon and stakeholders in the electoral process
The 2nd edition of the national platform for permanent dialogue between Elections Cameroon – Elecam and stakeholders in the electoral process was held on November 26, 2024, at the Mont Febé Hotel in Yaoundé. This 2nd edition, chaired by the President of the Electoral Council and the Director of ELECAM, was attended by over a hundred participants. The aim was to raise awareness and build the capacities of key players in the electoral process on the permanence of peaceful electoral dialogue with a view to credible, peaceful and transparent elections in 2025 and 2026.
WILPF Cameroon is part of this dialogue as a civil society organization contributing through its actions to the reduction of electoral violence and the preservation of peace. Our current work on the subject is the project: “Fostering social cohesion among young people to prevent hate speech and political violence in Cameroon”, funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF). As part of this project, the Guide pour l’éducation politique dans le respect de la diversité et la promotion de la paix was drawn up and prefaced by the Director of ELECAM, Dr Erik Essousse.
