WHEN WOMEN COMMIT TO PEACE, THE WORLD CHANGES
It was a powerful moment, an emotional moment, a moment of history! Sylvie Jacqueline NdongmoNational Civil Society Coordinator for UNSC Resolution 1325 and International President of WILPF ( Internationella Kvinnoförbundet för Fred och Frihet, IKFF) was with us. Her message was clear, forceful and full of truth: women are not simply witnesses and victims of conflict, but essential actors in peace-building.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325? More than a text, it’s a commitment. A commitment that Cameroon has begun to honor through its 2 national action plans. But this commitment must not remain on paper, but must be translated into concrete action at individual, community, institutional and other levels.
* How many women have lost their husbands, their children, their acquaintances, their lives in conflicts they never chose?
* How many of them get back on their feet every day, stronger, more determined to rebuild, to protect, to dream of a better future?
With WILPF Cameroonwe revisited the commitments made by Cameroon to implement this historic resolution. We talked about the achievements, the challenges and the hope. Because every woman who commits herself to peace is building a future where our daughters will no longer know fear, where our sons will no longer be living weapons, where peace will no longer be a dream but a reality.
Peace cannot be decreed, it must be built. It is defended. It is lived. And we refuse to be bystanders.
Today, we have laid another stone in this edifice. Tomorrow, we will continue. Harder. Further. Together.
