MEN ENGAGED
Mobilisation des hommes contre les VBG
Men in Yaoundé answered the call to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Yaoundé on February 5 and 6, 2026.
For two days, they participated in a training session on the Men Engaged process, organized by WILPF Cameroon and the GIZ’s SCP program. The objective of this initiative is to examine the social practices and power relations that perpetuate gender inequalities and cause harm at the individual, family, and societal levels. Participants, from civil society, motorcycle taxi drivers, and master’s students in gender studies, worked on ways to positively transform conflicts and promote gender equality.
This activity is part of ongoing efforts to involve men and boys in the fight against GBV and discriminatory gender norms. The organizers favored a co-constructive approach to encourage men to take responsibility for promoting gender equality and social cohesion.
Participants expressed their commitment to continuing the fight against gender-based violence and promoting women’s rights. They also emphasized the importance of men’s involvement in this struggle to create lasting change.
This initiative is an important step towards creating a more just and egalitarian society, where men and women can live in harmony and mutual respect. The next sessions will be held on February 24 and 25 of this month.
